This policy covers Roy Car Key Seattle and the information we handle when you phone us, send your details through the quote form, or have a technician come out to your vehicle. It is meant to be read rather than skimmed past, so it skips the legal padding and sets out what actually happens to what you give us.

Information We Collect

Pricing a job and getting somebody to it takes a short list of details: your name, a phone number, an email address if you reach us through the form, where the vehicle is sitting, and its year, make and model. Some jobs need the VIN as well, because the key code is drawn from it, and because it tells us whether you are looking at a straight key replacement, key programming, or a new key fob. Nothing beyond that is collected. We have no use for your date of birth, your social security number or your banking details, and anyone phoning you for those while claiming to be from this company is not.

Why We Need It

What you tell us is used to price the work, route a technician to the right address, carry out the job, raise an invoice, stand behind the guarantee on the key, and reply if you come back to us later. We also keep a record of each job to meet the licensing and insurance obligations that come with automotive locksmith work. Nothing on that list extends to marketing, and one call to us does not put you on a mailing list.

Checking That the Vehicle Is Yours

Before any key is cut or any ignition is opened, the technician asks to see a driver’s license together with a registration, title or insurance card. That happens on every job, with nobody exempted. The reason is simple: it is what stops us handing someone access to a car that is not theirs. The technician notes that the check was carried out, along with the vehicle and the date. Your license and your title are looked at, not photographed, and we keep no copies of either.

Who Else Sees Your Details

We do not sell your information, rent it, trade it or license it, and no third party pays us for access to it. Two outside parties touch an ordinary job: the technician assigned to your vehicle, and the payment processor that handles your card. Neither is permitted to use what they see for purposes of their own. Past that, we release information only where the law actually obliges us to, such as a valid subpoena, a court order, or a police enquiry concerning a particular vehicle.

What Happens When You Submit the Form

The form on this site is not wired to any server of ours. Pressing the button hands your details to the email program on your own device, which opens a message to us with the fields already written in. Nothing has left your device until you send that message yourself. Close it instead and we never receive it, with no copy left anywhere. Once you do send it, it lands in our email account and gets handled like any other enquiry.

Cookies, Tracking and Third-Party Requests

No page here sets a cookie of its own, and there is no analytics script, advertising tag or tracking pixel anywhere on the site. The single external request any page makes is for its typeface, which is served by Google Fonts. Your browser collects the font from Google directly, so Google sees your IP address and general browser information, the same as it would on any other site using that service. Separately, the company hosting this site keeps ordinary access logs of IP addresses and pages requested, as every web server does, and uses them for security and troubleshooting. If analytics are ever added, this page will say so before they go on.

Storage and Security

Digital records live in accounts that need credentials to open, and paperwork is kept locked up. Card payments run through the processor, which means a full card number is never held by us. No system anybody operates is impossible to break into and we are not going to pretend ours is. What we can tell you is that the amount of personal information this business holds is deliberately small, which is the most reliable protection there is.

Retention Periods

Job records and invoices stay on file for as long as the key guarantee and our accounting and tax duties require, which comes to a few years in practice. Enquiries that never turned into work are cleared out periodically. Once a record has no further purpose it is deleted or shredded rather than left to sit in an archive indefinitely.

Requesting Access, Correction or Deletion

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it unless the record is one we are required to retain for tax, insurance or legal reasons. Washington residents hold further rights under state law, and nothing set out here is meant to cut those down.

Minors

This is a service for vehicle owners and it is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anybody under the age of thirteen. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and it will be removed.

A handful of pages link out to websites we have nothing to do with. Follow one of those and you have left this site for a page governed by somebody else’s privacy policy, over which we have no control and for which we take no responsibility.

Any revision to this policy is published here with a fresh date at the top. Where a change affects how your information is handled, it goes up on this page before it takes effect, so it is worth another look if it has been a while.
